Minecraft Hardcore!

Saw FyreUK's hardcore mode start, so decided on doing one myself. Used world seed (flat), which ironically enough creates mountainous areas. I made a base around these two pillars - digging into the first one. I was lucky enough to spawn near giant chicken areas, but unlucky in that I could not find any sheep anywhere. I got to around 35 chicken, but then decided to try wheat farming. Below is the result:

The farm feels like an aeroponic farm, which is growing plants via air. I love the idea of the farm being suspended in the air. I plan on adding some fences around the area to prevent nasty falls. Usually I'd be less worried about damage and food, but hardcore means that on death, you lose all progress. It's why I like blogging these items, so that I keep blueprints of sorts on good techniques. For instance, there are water blocks every 4 to keep the farmland hydrated, which yields faster wheat. The produce is a WHOPPING 161 wheat that nicely crafts into 53 bread. Unlimited food is good as it allows me to focus on other aspects of the house and hardcore environment without worrying about food.
